The Department of Social Work Participated as a Partner in the International Art Gathering Held as Part of World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on October 6

The Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Yalova University, contributed as a partner to the International Art Gathering event held on October 7, 2026, at the Yalova City Museum as part of World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on October 6.
Organized under the slogan “Give Life a Green Light,” the event aimed to draw attention to the rights of individuals with cerebral palsy and their participation in social life, raise awareness about disability, and support social inclusion through art.
The event, which brought together participants from Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Korea, and Norway, was attended by the General Director of Services for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly, representing the Ministry of Family and Social Services, as well as the Yalova Provincial Director of Family and Social Services. The program also included representatives from provincial and local administrations, public institutions, diplomatic missions, the Turkish Federation of People with Cerebral Palsy, civil society organizations, people with disabilities, university students, and citizens.
Through the exhibition, dance performances, film screenings, and various cultural and artistic activities organized as part of the event, awareness was raised regarding the social participation of people with disabilities, accessibility, and intercultural solidarity.
The event, in which Yalova University’s Department of Social Work participated as a partner, was significant in terms of strengthening collaboration with external stakeholders, supporting social contribution activities, and developing students’ sense of social responsibility—all within the scope of the department’s quality assurance and accreditation efforts. The program, which also included participation from students in the Department of Social Work, provided an environment that fostered awareness aligned with the principles of social work—human rights, equality, social justice, and social inclusion.
The Department of Social Work at Yalova University will continue to contribute, together with its external stakeholders, to activities that strengthen university-community collaboration, support the social participation of disadvantaged groups, and foster a sense of social responsibility.
