The Social Work Department is an interdisciplinary education program that aims to train social workers capable of developing scientific and professional interventions for social problems arising at the individual, family, group, and community levels. The educational process carried out in our department is based on an approach that integrates the theoretical knowledge of social sciences with practical experience.
Within the scope of the program, students acquire fundamental knowledge in areas such as human behavior and the social environment, social work theories, social policy, law, psychology, and sociology, and subsequently learn social work methods focused on individuals, groups, and communities. In the later stages of the educational process, the development of professional skills is targeted through practical courses and field training.
Our department's educational approach is based on the unity of knowledge, skills, and values that form the foundation of the social work profession. In this regard, the aim is to train students to become professionals who can make decisions based on scientific knowledge, have developed professional intervention skills, and are committed to human rights, social justice, and professional ethical principles.
The practical training conducted in our department is carried out in collaboration with public institutions, local governments, and non-governmental organizations to enable students to become familiar with different areas of social work. This allows students to experience their professional roles and responsibilities in real-world settings.
The Department of Social Work adopts as its fundamental approach the training of professionals who embrace evidence-based practice and contribute to the advancement of social welfare.
