As the Department of Social Work, we take on the responsibility of educating a profession that centers human dignity, social justice, and social welfare. This responsibility requires not only providing quality education but also creating an academic environment that understands social change, produces scientific knowledge, and develops solutions.
Our department has adopted as its fundamental goal the training of social workers who integrate scientific knowledge with practical experience, think critically, adhere to ethical values, and possess a human rights-based perspective. We organize our educational processes in line with the learning outcomes defined in our program and carry out measurement and evaluation practices in accordance with these outcomes. Among our priorities is to offer a learning environment that continuously develops our education program in line with the requirements of the age and addresses research and practice together.
Our goal is to take our department beyond being merely an academic unit that provides education and turn it into an academic center that produces knowledge, develops policies, and generates solutions to social problems. In this regard, we aim to strengthen our students' professional competencies through innovative teaching methods, interdisciplinary studies, and strong partnerships established with application areas.
A culture of collaboration is one of the core values of our department. We believe that the relationships we establish with our students, graduates, public institutions, local governments, non-governmental organizations, and professional associations will both enhance the quality of education and broaden our social impact. With a participatory management approach based on stakeholder involvement, we aim to shape the educational and development processes of our department together.
We are aware of the global dimension of social work education. Therefore, while strengthening our relationships with national academic networks, we prioritize increasing the visibility of our department through international collaborations, exchange programs, and joint research. It is among our top priorities to educate our students to become professionals who are familiar with different cultures, proficient in universal professional standards, and capable of multidimensional thinking.
The development of our department is carried out within the framework of quality assurance, through regular monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement processes. Creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive academic environment for all learners and teachers is one of our most important responsibilities.
I would like to thank all our students, academic and administrative staff, graduates, and partner institutions who contribute to the development of our department, and I wish for a productive academic environment where we will continue to create and develop together.
