Since the dawn of history, people have attempted to solve their material and spiritual problems according to the conditions of the time. Today, these problems have become even more complex. Social Work is a branch of science and a profession that aims to meet evolving human needs and trains social workers in this field.
Our Social Work Department has a mission that prioritizes universal human rights, prioritizes national values and historical experience, and keeps abreast of global developments.
Our Social Work Department has been providing education and training services with its experienced staff since 2009. Our Social Work Department, which offers both daytime/regular and evening education, has graduated in seven semesters and accepts students based on equal weighted scores.
Our department currently has a total of 14 faculty members: 4 professors, 2 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 1 lecturer, and 4 research assistants.
Our Department of Social Work is a multidisciplinary department. Thanks to its four-year curriculum, drawing on numerous scientific fields such as psychology, sociology, social policy, and public health, students graduate with an interdisciplinary perspective.
Graduates of the Department of Social Work graduate as "Social Workers." Social workers' areas of interest include poverty, unemployment, migration, substance use and addiction, delinquency, street children, children in need of protection, aging, neglect and abuse, disability, and illness.
Students undergo a four-year program consisting of eight academic semesters. Starting in the second year, they can take various elective courses to develop their own areas of expertise. In addition to the theoretical and practical courses placed in a balanced manner within these 8 academic terms, the entire second term of the 4th year consists of "practical Education" (block practice - internship).
Because the training provided is both theoretical and practical, our students can easily transition to the workforce with the knowledge, experience, and practical experience they gained through their practical training (internships).
Another feature of our Yalova Social Work Department is the availability of both master's and doctoral programs. Our graduates may also pursue master's and doctoral degrees if they wish.
Our Graduates' Fields of Study: The social work department offers a wide range of fields of study. Our graduates can work in all institutions and organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, as well as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Education, Private/State/University/Branch and Specialized Hospitals, Medico-Social Centers, Credit and Dormitories Institution, General Directorate of Youth and Sports, Youth Centers, Ministry of Justice Prisons, Reformatories, Juvenile Courts, Street Children Centers, Ministry of Development, Universities, Southeastern Anatolia Project, Social Security Institution, Employment Agency, Social Solidarity and Aid Foundations, public relations units of various organizations, public and private industrial establishments, local governments, non-governmental organizations (Kızılay, Turkish Family Planning Association, International Organizations, United Nations, international organizations, embassies, consulates.
