As part of the “Decade of Population and Family” initiative announced by the Presidency and Family Day events, our Department Chair of Social Work delivered a conference titled “Children and Families in the Digital World” for the staff of the Yalova Provincial Directorate of Religious Affairs.
The conference addressed the effects of digitalization on children’s and family life, the impact of digital environments on child development, the role of digital technologies in family communication processes, and protective and preventive approaches to safe technology use. Additionally, recommendations were shared regarding the risks children may face in the digital world and ways to strengthen families’ digital parenting skills.
The event is significant in terms of strengthening the protective and preventive aspects of the social work discipline within the framework of university-community collaboration, contributing to increased social awareness, and supporting the concept of lifelong learning. A question-and-answer and evaluation session was conducted with the participants at the end of the program.
Such scientific and socially contributory activities continue to strengthen our department’s efforts focused on social work, stakeholder collaboration, and social responsibility.
