A tree-planting event organized by the Department of Social Work at Yalova University to strengthen students’ environmental awareness, understanding of sustainability, and sense of social responsibility was held with strong participation.
The event was attended by faculty administration, department faculty members, administrative staff, and students from the Department of Social Work. During the event, the importance of protecting nature, environmental sustainability, combating climate change, and leaving a more livable environment for future generations was emphasized. The saplings planted by the participants were intended to strengthen environmental awareness and contribute to nature.
The tree-planting event also supports the vision of a sustainable eco-campus, which aims to transform the university campus into a greener, healthier, and more livable space. In this context, the event served as an important practical example of fostering environmental sustainability, ecological awareness, and a nature-friendly campus culture, while also helping students grow into environmentally conscious individuals with a strong sense of volunteerism and social responsibility.
The Department of Social Work prioritizes the development of its students not only in terms of academic growth but also as professionals who are sensitive to social and environmental issues, embrace the concept of sustainable development, and take on the responsibility of generating social benefits, in line with an ecological approach that evaluates the individual within their environment.
The event, with its structure that encourages student participation and its focus on environmental awareness and social contribution, is regarded as one of the exemplary activities supporting the department’s practice-based educational philosophy.
