Prof. Dr. Fethi Güngör Participated in the Panel on Combating Violence Against Women

The panel on violence against women held in Eyüp, Istanbul, began with an opening speech by Ramazan Üçan, Director of the Eyüpsultan Social Services Center. In his speech, Üçan emphasized that violence against women is one of the most widespread human rights violations worldwide and stated that inter-institutional cooperation must be strengthened in the fight against violence against women.

Following the opening speech, panelists Prof. Dr. Fethi Güngör and clinical psychologist Feyza Baykal took the floor. The panel discussed the psychological and sociological dimensions of violence against women and highlighted the importance of education, awareness-raising efforts, and early intervention in preventing violence.

In his presentation titled “The Importance and Method of Combating Violence in Building a Safe Society,” Prof. Güngör explained the nature of a safe society, the types and causes of violence, ways to break the cycle of violence, and the legal dimensions of combating violence. In his presentation, Güngör, who based his speech on KADEM Association's book titled “Building a Trustworthy Society: The Anatomy of Violence and Ways to Solve It,” also touched upon methods and techniques for combating violence in the context of the Quran and Sunnah, providing examples.

Following their speeches, the panelists answered questions from the participants. At the end of the program, Ramazan Üçan, Director of the Eyüpsultan Social Services Center, presented the speakers with bouquets of flowers as a token of appreciation.
